3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
If you hold an active out-of-state license to practice as an independent marriage and family therapist, Kentucky grants you a license if you are in good standing, of good moral character, have no serious discipline, meet the exam requirement, and pay the fee. You do not need to meet Kentucky’s education requirement. You also do not need Kentucky’s supervised practice hours.
For applications under KRS 335.300 to 335.399, the board tells you within one week if it finds a technical error. You have two weeks to fix it. The board reviews your fix within one week. The board issues the license or permit within two weeks after the application is complete.
Beginning January 1, 2028, certain Kentucky licensing boards must collect standard personal and work details at license renewal. This includes your name and contacts, all practice addresses, license details, NPI, education and certificates, job type, specialty, setting, work status or unemployment reason, and ability to meet ADA patient needs. Boards cannot collect Social Security numbers. You may tell the board not to let your personal contact and license data be shared or sold to other employers or agencies. Boards must report collected data to the Kentucky Center for Statistics and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services when requested. Each board starts this at its next renewal date after January 1, 2028.
