Retired state police can return

The law lets retired Kentucky State Police officers return in Trooper R Class or CVE R Class. You must have been commissioned under this chapter and be a retired member of the State Police Retirement System or the Kentucky Employees Retirement System with at least 20 years of service credit. At appointment, you must have been separated from the department at least 1 month and no more than 60 months after your retirement, or after your latest separation if you previously served in an R class. You must have retired willingly with no administrative charges pending (KRS 16.140 or 16.192), and you must not have had a pre-arranged deal to return. The law takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or when it otherwise becomes law.
