Smoother electric bills and tighter fuel checks

The Public Service Commission can let an electric utility spread fuel costs over a longer period if the utility asks. This can cut sharp swings on your power bill, while shifting when the costs show up. For fuel contracts dated July 1, 2021 or later, the Commission must judge costs after subtracting any coal severance tax. This can limit the fuel charges utilities pass through to customers.
