Food is Medicine pilots and partnerships

Kentucky declares itself a Food is Medicine state and makes nutrition part of health care. State agencies work with hospitals, agriculture, and others to pilot medically tailored meals and produce prescriptions for high‑risk patients. Agencies form public‑private partnerships to strengthen local food systems and community food delivery. They also support evaluations to track health results and possible cost savings. The law does not set funding, dates, or who can join pilots.

Farm share rewards for state health plan

If you are in the Kentucky Employees Health Plan, you can earn wellness rewards for buying a community supported agriculture (CSA) share in plan years 2027 and 2028. You must show proof of your CSA purchase or contract. The Personnel Cabinet sets the reward amount and rules and may use a third‑party administrator. Reports to lawmakers are due by July 1, 2028 (for 2027) and July 1, 2029 (for 2028) on participation, diet changes, satisfaction, possible KEHP cost savings, and ways to boost use.
