New rules for Dartmouth Fire District 1 treasurer

Beginning July 1, 2025, the Prudential Committee appoints the Treasurer for Dartmouth Fire District No. 1. This governs the job even if other laws say otherwise. The Treasurer serves up to three years. Reappointment is allowed only in the last year of the term and is the Committee’s choice. The salary is set by a contract with the Committee and is paid only if the District Meeting funds it. The Committee may suspend, fire, or discipline the Treasurer under the contract terms.
