Set membership sizes for Provincetown boards

The law standardizes Provincetown town board sizes. Most boards have 5 regular members and 2 alternates. The Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board may have up to 5 alternates. The finance committee has 7 regular members and 2 alternates.

Provincetown alternates can vote; oath required

New members must be sworn in by the Town Clerk before they can take part in any meeting. If a regular member is absent, alternates step in to vote in order of seniority. When an alternate is designated to serve, they can discuss and vote on all board business, including permits, approvals, and administrative actions.
