Herb Chaffee works past 65, pension set

Herbert A. Chaffee, II can keep serving as a Brookfield firefighter until February 23, 2030. He can stop earlier if he retires or the select board relieves him. He must be mentally and physically able to do the job. The town may require a fitness exam by an impartial doctor it chooses, and the town pays for it. No more chapter 32 deductions are taken from his pay after age 65, and his pension is calculated as if he retired at 65.
