Standard hours and notices for early voting

Beginning January 1, 2027, every early voting center is open from the second Thursday before an election through the Thursday before the election. Centers are open each early voting day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Starting 30 days before each early voting period, the State Board and local boards tell voters where and when to vote early, including media notices and mailings to all registered voters in each county. Most Election Day rules also apply during early voting. The State Board adopts rules and guidelines to run early voting.

Local buses stop at early voting centers

Beginning January 1, 2027, county or city fixed local bus routes must let riders get on and off at the entrance of an early voting center if the center is within one-half mile of the route. This applies on the days the center is open and only when practical and consistent with accessibility rules. The rule covers routes funded and run by a county or municipal government, or their contractors. It does not apply to express or commuter routes with limited stops, or to routes run by the Maryland Transit Administration or the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
