Beginning October 1, 2026, the Maryland Insurance Commissioner can fine a third‑party administrator up to $10,000 for each violation of the Insurance Article. The Commissioner can also fine up to $1,000 per day for each day a person violates the TPA registration rule. These fines can be added on top of other enforcement actions. To estimate the total, multiply $10,000 by the number of violations and $1,000 by the days out of compliance.
Beginning October 1, 2026, the Commissioner can deny, refuse to renew, suspend, or revoke a third‑party administrator registration after a hearing. This applies if the applicant or registrant violates Maryland insurance laws. It also applies if they knowingly fail to follow a Commissioner regulation or order.
