Use a Private Mailbox as Principal Office

Beginning October 1, 2026, Maryland corporations, LLCs, LLPs, and LPs can list a private mailbox in Maryland as their principal office. The business must have a valid agreement with the mailbox provider and follow U.S. Postal Service rules, and the address must be in Maryland. If you do not use a private mailbox, your principal office stays the one on file, or your main Maryland office. The law also defines what counts as a commercial mail receiving agency and ends a rule that made these providers share USPS Form 1583 contact details with the state or law enforcement.
