Baltimore County trustee seats realigned in 2026

On June 30, 2026, the law ends certain seats tied to the old districts 2, 6, and 7. It also clears listed vacancies for district 1 and district 3 (a term that ended June 30, 2024) and a district 4 seat (a term that ended June 30, 2025). Beginning July 1, 2026, incumbents move to new districts and keep their end dates: pre‑dist.4 → new dist.2 (to 6/30/2030); pre‑dist.3 → new dist.3 (to 6/30/2029); pre‑dist.2 → new dist.4 (to 6/30/2028); pre‑dist.6 → new dist.6 (to 6/30/2027); pre‑dist.5 → new dist.7 (to 6/30/2030); pre‑dist.7 → new dist.8 (to 6/30/2027). One at‑large member remains at‑large through 6/30/2029, and a pre‑dist.5 member serves at‑large through 6/30/2027. Also starting July 1, 2026, the Governor appoints first members for new districts 1, 5, and 9. Those first terms end 6/30/2028 (dist.1), 6/30/2029 (dist.5), and 6/30/2030 (dist.9).

New rules for Baltimore County trustees

Beginning June 1, 2026, the Board has 11 members. The Governor appoints them with Senate approval. Two members serve at large. Nine members each represent one of Baltimore County’s nine councilmanic districts. Each trustee serves a 5‑year term starting July 1 and may serve no more than two in a row. The Board elects a chair every year for the year that begins July 1.
