New ethics filing rules for bicounty commissioners

Beginning October 1, 2026, applicants and commissioners for bicounty commissions tied to Prince George’s County must give a printed copy of any electronic financial disclosure to the Prince George’s County Office of Ethics and Accountability. County chief administrative officers must also send disclosures to the bicounty commission’s executive director, and in Prince George’s County, to the Office of Ethics and Accountability. The Office keeps each statement for the commissioner’s full term and makes it available for public viewing and copying during normal hours. It may charge a reasonable fee and must have visitors record their name, home address, and whose statement they viewed. If you are not appointed and you provided a paper copy, the Office returns the original and all copies within 15 days after the appointment is final. After Montgomery County or Prince George’s County reports that an applicant was not appointed, the State Ethics Commission deletes the electronic filing.
