Town election dates must be posted

Beginning October 1, 2026, the State Board of Elections posts a list of upcoming regular municipal elections. The list shows each town, the date, and every office on the ballot. The State Board also posts which towns have not reported their next regular election yet. Local boards of elections post town election dates in their counties, showing if each election is regular or special. Towns with a website must also post their own upcoming regular and special elections, the date, and each office on the ballot.

Towns’ election results due in 30 days

Beginning October 1, 2026, each town must send certified election results to the State Board within 30 days. Results must show votes by method: in-person early, mail-in or vote-by-mail, provisional, and in-person election day. If elections are partisan, the report must list each candidate’s party. Towns must also give the date of the next regular election and the offices on that ballot. The State Board posts the results online as soon as they are submitted, organized by year and by town.
