Free drink-spiking and fentanyl tests for Prince George's students

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, Prince George’s County public high schools give students free drink‑spiking test cards. Schools that reported an overdose needing naloxone also give students fentanyl test strips for free. These products are required only if schools receive them at no cost. Schools may offer them in the health clinic or the library. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.

Annual Prince George's school report on test kits

Each Prince George’s County public high school must report how many detection products it handed out in the prior school year. The first report is due by October 1, 2027, then every October 1. Schools send the report to Maryland’s Office of Overdose Response using the Department’s form.
