Agencies send reports to new committees

The law changes the names and targets for some committee reports. Starting June 1, 2026, agencies and boards send required notices and reports to the House Health Committee instead of the House Health and Government Operations Committee. They also send them to the Senate Finance Committee instead of the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee. This updates where oversight information goes but does not change program benefits.

Legislative Policy Committee membership updated

The law changes who sits on the Legislative Policy Committee. It adds the Chair of the Government, Labor, and Elections Committee. The Speaker now appoints three Delegates instead of four, and alternates drop from five to four when one person holds two listed roles. These updates take effect June 1, 2026.

New chairs may request Archivist reviews

The law changes which committee chairs can ask the State Archivist to review state designations. The Senate chair on Education, Energy, and the Environment and the House Labor and Elections chair now have this role. This takes effect June 1, 2026.
