Multi-year funding for child care credentials

Beginning July 1, 2026, state law sets funding for this program. It sets $4 million for fiscal year 2021 and requires 10% yearly increases for fiscal years 2022–2024. For fiscal year 2026, funding must be at least the fiscal year 2024 amount. For fiscal years 2028–2030, the Governor must provide $5.687 million each year.

New credentials and bonuses for child care workers

Beginning July 1, 2026, Maryland runs a Child Care Credential Program. You can apply for a staff or administrator credential, including a Child Development Associate credential. If you pursue or hold an approved credential, the Office can give you an achievement bonus, a training reimbursement, or a training voucher. These awards are discretionary and tied to approved credentials.
