New Aging Resilience Fund for Seniors

Beginning July 1, 2026, Maryland creates the Aging Resilience Fund to support the Department of Aging’s work. It is a special, nonlapsing fund held separately. The State Treasurer holds and invests the money, and interest stays in the Fund. Money can come from investment earnings, fees under this subtitle, and other accepted sources. The Fund pays for partnership development and Department of Aging programs and services, not administrative or staff costs. Spending happens only through the State budget. The Governor cannot cut appropriations the General Assembly approved for the Fund. Money stays in the Fund and does not replace regular budget funds. The Secretary of Aging runs the Fund and reports each year on deposits and spending.
