Pay and training for Frederick college trustees

Beginning June 1, 2026, each Frederick Community College trustee gets $500 a year for expenses. Trustees must complete governance training at least every two years. The training covers board roles, structure, responsibilities, and duties.

Open meetings and records at Frederick college

Every board meeting includes time for public comment. The board records each meeting by video or audio and posts it on its website for free, when practicable within 2 business days. The board keeps recordings and minutes forever. It may make a transcript only after keeping the video for 5 years, and then keeps the transcript forever. These rules take effect June 1, 2026.

New rules for Frederick college trustees

The law sets a seven‑member Board of Trustees for Frederick Community College. All members must live in Frederick County. The Governor appoints members to five‑year terms with Senate consent. No one may serve more than three straight five‑year terms. A member of the Frederick County Board of Education may not serve. These rules take effect June 1, 2026.
