Eyelash applicants lose exam-only licensing option

Beginning October 1, 2026, passing Board tests no longer replaces training for a Maryland limited eyelash extension license. Applicants must complete at least 3 months as a registered apprentice or 100 hours of eyelash instruction in an approved program. Applicants must also be at least 17, have finished ninth grade or its equivalent, and complete 1 hour of domestic violence awareness training. An existing exception meets the training requirement for applicants licensed elsewhere who actively practiced there for at least 6 months. The law keeps the general Board exam requirement; it removes exams as a substitute for training.
