More deaf voices on Maryland School for the Deaf board

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Board has 13 members, down from 19. At least 7 of the 13 members are deaf. Members must live in Maryland, be from the public, and show active interest in deaf education. Each region of the state has at least one member. The Governor appoints members with Senate consent. The first six members whose terms end after July 1, 2026 finish their terms. When those seats are filled, the Governor prioritizes appointing deaf members to meet the new minimum.
