More Sunday hunting under state rules

Beginning July 1, 2027, and through June 30, 2030, the Department sets Sunday hunting rules that at least match what was allowed on June 30, 2027. The Department may allow Sunday deer bow hunting in Baltimore City. It may also allow Sunday hunting with a State‑certified raptor and unarmed organized fox chases on Sundays. At regulated shooting grounds, the Department may allow Sunday shooting of pen‑reared game birds or tower‑released mallards, and operators can request Sunday authorization as part of their permit.

Where Sunday hunting stays off limits

Sunday hunting on public land in the State park system is not allowed. Hunting migratory game birds on Sundays is prohibited. The Department also cannot authorize Sunday hunting in Baltimore County, Howard County, or Prince George’s County unless a specific exception in the law applies.

Deer damage permits can include Sundays

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Department can issue deer‑damage permits for a single, contiguous property of at least 10 acres with documented deer damage. These permits can let the owner, an employee, lessee, or agent shoot deer on Sundays. If you hold a deer management permit, you may shoot deer on any Sunday year‑round, but you must follow your permit terms. Sunday deer hunting under these permits is not allowed in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, or Prince George’s County, and it is banned within 150 yards of Department trails during deer firearms season. The Department must map where these permits may apply and publish the maps.
