Scholarships for Maryland grad students

Beginning July 1, 2026, Maryland offers a Graduate and Professional Scholarship for full‑time and part‑time students. Awards are $1,000 to $5,000 per school year. You can get help for up to eight semesters total. You must live in Maryland, show financial need set by the Commission, and attend an eligible program named in the law. Eligible programs cover medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, nursing, social work, veterinary medicine, the listed UMES degrees, and Maryland schools offering a master’s in nursing, a master’s in social work, or a first professional pharmacy degree.

How schools get scholarship funds

Beginning July 1, 2026, the State funds the program through the State budget. The Commission gives more money to schools that enroll more Maryland residents in eligible programs. Each school that gets money must file a yearly audit showing how it used the funds. The Commission sets award guidelines and issues rules to run the program.
