Calvert County tax break for tobacco barns

Beginning June 1, 2026, Calvert County can grant a county property tax credit for property used only as a tobacco barn. To qualify, the land must be under a tobacco buyout agreement, or have an agricultural use assessment and be used for an approved farm activity recognized by the Maryland Department of Agriculture. The county sets the credit amount, how long it lasts, and other rules by local law. The credit applies to taxable years starting after June 30, 2026.
