Maryland businesses get new rush filing options

Beginning January 1, 2028, Maryland's State Department of Assessments and Taxation offers 1-hour document processing for an extra $1,000. Documents must first be accepted for preclearance and filed at least 1 hour before closing. The law ends the 30-minute option and its $1,500 fee. The 2-hour option remains available for $425 when documents arrive at least 2 hours before closing. These extra rush-processing fees are nonrefundable.
