Truancy help for families in select counties

Beginning October 1, 2026, juvenile courts can run a Truancy Reduction Pilot Program. Covered areas are Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, Worcester, Kent, Talbot, Harford, Washington County, Frederick County, and Prince George's County. The program applies only where the circuit administrative judge establishes it and the State budget funds it each year. The Chief Justice, after consulting the circuit judges, can accept gifts or grants to help run the pilots.
