Regular survey to set Medicaid pharmacy fees

Beginning October 1, 2026, the Health Department runs a Maryland survey of pharmacy dispensing costs. It happens at least once every three years. In any year a survey is done, the Department reports results to the General Assembly by December 1. Within six months after each survey, the Department sets a fee-for-service professional dispensing fee by regulation, based on the results. This ties Medicaid pharmacy payments to in-state costs and can raise or lower what pharmacies are paid.
