5 provisions identified: 4 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning October 1, 2026, the board president earns $58,000 a year and each other commissioner earns $53,000. Each commissioner can get up to $2,000 a year back for reasonable office costs. Commissioners may join the Calvert County Employees Retirement Savings Plan. These amounts apply to terms that start on or after the effective date.
Beginning October 1, 2026, the board president gets $6,500 for 2026 and $8,500 for 2027 and later. Other members get $5,500 for 2026 and $7,500 for 2027 and later. Elected members also get the same health insurance offered to board employees. These changes apply to terms that start on or after the effective date.
Beginning October 1, 2026, the County Treasurer’s annual salary is $115,000 for terms that start on or after that date. Starting with a term that begins on or after November 4, 2026, the Treasurer gets the same pension benefits as county employees. If a Treasurer qualifies under the older rule, the pension is $150 per year of service, paid monthly. The county must also pay $150 a month for life to the surviving spouse of any treasurer who served as of October 1974.
The Calvert County State’s Attorney salary equals a circuit court judge’s salary. The law also removes a prior limit on when raises could take effect during a term. This change begins October 1, 2026.
The new pay and benefits do not apply to incumbents whose term began before October 1, 2026. For those officials, the changes start at the next term. If someone is appointed or elected after October 1, 2026 to finish an unexpired term, the new amounts can apply sooner.
