New rules for local speed cameras

Beginning October 1, 2026, the State Highway Administration must approve, deny, or return a speed camera application within 120 days. If it does not act in 120 days, the application is approved. A program administrator or their contractor may file no more than 10 applications in any 30 days. A contractor that files must consult the program administrator before and after it submits the application. These rules apply to applications made under the state’s speed camera process.
