Anne Arundel port land approval rules

Beginning October 1, 2026, the Maryland Port Administration needs county approval to buy land or buildings in Anne Arundel County. The county must hold a public hearing before approving. The Administration may buy an option, but the final purchase still needs county approval. When the Administration asks for approval in writing, the county has 90 days to send a written denial. If the county does not send that notice in 90 days, approval is treated as granted. The Administration must also give written notice of its request to the Anne Arundel County Delegation under State Government § 2-1257.
