Maryland IDs no longer need color photos

Beginning October 1, 2026, Maryland no longer requires color photos on state IDs, noncommercial driver’s licenses (Class A, B, C, or M), and moped permits. A photo is still required and must follow Motor Vehicle Administration rules. This applies to cards and licenses issued or renewed on or after that date. It does not change who can get an ID or license.
