Beginning October 1, 2026, the Baltimore County School Board Nominating Commission has 21 members, up from 19. The law adds three groups that each appoint one member. They are the Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce, AFSCME Local 3 (Council 434), and the Citizens Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education.

Staggered terms for commission seats

Beginning October 1, 2026, the law sets a transition for commission seats. The terms for these seats end on September 30, 2028: the Baltimore County NAACP; Education Support Personnel of Baltimore County; the Teachers Association of Baltimore County; Towson University; the League of Women Voters of Baltimore County; the Baltimore County Student Councils; and the Governor’s appointees for districts 6, 8, 11, and 43. The terms for these seats end on September 30, 2030: AFSCME Local 3; the Citizens Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education; the Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce; the PTA Council of Baltimore County, Inc.; the Special Education Citizens’ Advisory Committee; the Council of Administrative and Supervisory Employees; the County Executive’s at-large seat; and the Governor’s appointees for districts 7, 10, 42, and 44. The first Greater Baltimore Chamber appointee serves the rest of the former Chamber seat’s term, subject to these end dates.
