Clear early voting hours and notices

Beginning January 1, 2027, early voting centers are open from the second Thursday before an election through the Thursday before it. They are open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Starting 30 days before each early voting period, the State and local boards tell voters about early voting and where to go, with public service announcements and a mailing to every registered voter. Unless this section says otherwise, the same rules that apply on election day also apply to early voting. The State Board sets rules and guidelines to run early voting.

Local buses stop at early voting centers

If an early voting center is within one-half mile of a fixed local bus route, the bus lets riders get on and off at the center entrance on early voting days. This applies to county or city funded fixed local routes and their contractors. It does not apply to express or commuter routes, Maryland Transit Administration routes, or Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority routes. Service follows accessibility rules and is provided to the maximum extent practicable. The requirement starts January 1, 2027.
