Anne Arundel tax deferral for seniors, disabled

Beginning June 1, 2026, Anne Arundel County can pass a local law to let eligible homeowners delay paying county property tax on their main home. The deferral applies to county tax years that begin after June 30, 2026. To qualify, at least one owner must have lived in the home for 5 straight years and be age 62 or older, or be permanently and totally disabled. Disability can be shown by Social Security, Railroad Retirement, federal service‑member or federal retirement benefits, or by a finding from a county health officer or the Baltimore City Commissioner of Health. The owner must also meet the income limit set under subsection (c) of state law. The change also recognizes some reserve, NOAA, and U.S. Public Health Service members in the disability pathways.
