Add veteran status to IDs and licenses

Beginning October 1, 2026, Maryland lets veterans ask for a “Veteran” note on state IDs and many licenses. Agencies and boards may offer this on professional and health licenses, certificates, registrations, and public profiles. You can ask when you apply or renew. You must show proof, like a DD Form 214 or a certification from the Department of Veterans and Military Families, or other documents the office accepts. You may also consent to be contacted about benefits; your information is shared only if you agree. Some offices must first set up the process, and the ID office may limit which card types qualify.
