Environmental crimes unit and earlier reports

Beginning July 1, 2026, the law establishes and affirms an Environmental and Natural Resources Crimes Unit in the Attorney General’s office. The Attorney General must send the unit’s annual report to the Governor and the General Assembly by October 1 each year, moved up from November 30. The report must list all unit work from the prior fiscal year. It must also list actions the Department of the Environment and the Department of Natural Resources took in response to the unit’s findings and recommendations.
