Beginning with the 2029–2030 award year, colleges use a state-ranked need list to offer Guaranteed Access Grants and set amounts. The State Office compiles and certifies the list each year and must finish by October 1, then sends it to colleges. Colleges send award notices to you, and you may accept the offer. For renewals, the Office sends lists of students who qualify, and colleges send renewal notices. The Office adopts rules to run this process. The Act takes effect July 1, 2026.
Each semester, colleges send the State Office a list of students who got a Guaranteed Access Grant and the award amounts. The Office reimburses colleges for those grants. The Office also reimburses colleges for renewal awards made under the renewal lists.
