New setup for Baltimore County community college board

The law takes effect June 1, 2026. The board drops from 15 to 11 members: 2 at-large and 9 from County Council districts. The Governor appoints members with Senate approval. On June 30, 2026, terms tied to the old map end for districts 2, 6, and 7, and the old 1, 3, and 4 vacancies are cleared. On July 1, 2026, sitting trustees shift to the new districts under the map that starts June 23, 2026; some seats become at-large, and incumbents keep their end dates. Also on July 1, new trustees for districts 1, 5, and 9 are appointed, with initial terms ending June 30, 2028; June 30, 2029; and June 30, 2030. These are governance changes only and do not change taxes or create direct payments.
