Stable funding for long-term care ombudsman

Beginning July 1, 2026, the law requires at least $2 million a year for the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office, starting with the FY 2027 budget. The money comes first from managed care organization payments from two years earlier. If those payments are under $2 million, the General Fund makes up the rest. These dollars are on top of regular funding and cannot replace it. The funds are used only for the Ombudsman Office’s operations.
