After your removal time ends, the operator must give you a notice of intent to dispose at least 10 days before selling or throwing away your things. The operator cannot dispose of your property until at least 10 days after your removal period and after sending the required notice. If the operator emails the disposal notice and gets no reply or proof within 5 days, they must send a second notice by verified mail to your last known postal address.
After a nonrenewal notice is delivered in person, by email, or by verified mail, you cannot keep using the unit after the term ends. The operator must give you at least 30 days, and at least until the rental term ends, to remove your things. Your rental agreement must include a bold notice about removal if the lease is not renewed.
Electronic and written rental agreements count the same for storage units. The law defines verified mail as postal or private delivery that gives proof of mailing.
Operators may advertise lien sales in a local newspaper, by email, or on a website. This gives operators more ways to notify people about a sale of stored property.
