Bonuses and vouchers for child care credentials

Beginning July 1, 2026, you can apply to the State Office for a child care staff credential (including a child development associate) or an administrator credential. The Office may give you an achievement bonus, a training reimbursement, or a training voucher if you pursue, earn, or already hold an approved credential. Awards are discretionary and require Office approval. The program is now in State law and supports the child care workforce.

Multi-year funding for credential incentives

The law sets a funding path for the Maryland Child Care Credential Program. It provides $4 million for FY 2021. Funding must rise 10% each year for FY 2022 through FY 2024. For FY 2026, funding must be at least the FY 2024 amount. For FY 2028 through FY 2030, the State provides $5.687 million each year. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.
