Stricter massage advertising and enforcement rules

Beginning October 1, 2026, the Board sets ad rules for massage therapists, practitioners, and anyone who advertises for them. Ads must show the provider’s full licensed name and license or registration number; multi‑provider businesses do not need to list everyone, but any listed name must match the Board record. You may use a trade name only if it is not misleading and the licensed provider’s name is shown in ads, on invoices, stationery, and receipts, and treatment records show who gave the service. Ads cannot say or suggest prostitution, escort, or sexual services or appear on sites known for those services; each day an illegal online ad stays up is a separate violation. The Board may deny, reprimand, put you on probation, suspend, or revoke a license after required hearings for violations of Health Occupations rules, including these ad standards. Mailing appointment reminders is not treated as advertising, and the Board provides ways for the public to report violations.

Remove banned signs by May 1, 2027

Starting October 1, 2026, any physical sign or billboard that violates the sexual‑services ad ban must come down. If such a sign is visible on that date, the person who placed or caused it to be placed must remove it by May 1, 2027. Not removing it counts as a violation.
