Maryland updates its fire code to include NFPA 101 Life Safety Code (2024 edition) sections 30.7.5 and 31.7.5. Beginning April 14, 2026, building owners, managers, and residents may place trash and recyclables awaiting scheduled pickup in corridors and exits only if they meet those NFPA rules. The State Fire Prevention Code applies these rules across all counties and cities.
