EV chargers must show a local contact

Beginning July 1, 2026, each EV charging meter must display a local contact’s name, address, and phone. The information can be on the device or right next to it. This gives you a clear local contact for problems.

Clear EV charging bills and fees

Beginning July 1, 2026, EV electricity sold at retail is measured and sold in kilowatt-hours (kWh). During a charging session, you are charged only for the kWh actually delivered. Owners may add a separate service fee, fixed or based on time, but only after the session ends. The fee must be listed on your receipt.

Maryland sets yearly EV charging price floor

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Comptroller sets a minimum price for retail EV electricity each year. The office posts the minimum price on its website by July 1. This creates a price floor that could raise costs if it is above current rates.
