Appraisal training grants for minority residents

Beginning July 1, 2026, Maryland offers grants to enter the real estate appraisal field through the Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) pathway. The Maryland Higher Education Commission runs the program. It aims to close appraisal gaps in historically redlined and underrepresented communities and to diversify the field. Grants are directed to minority residents of those areas who plan to pursue PAREA. The law does not set grant amounts; the Commission sets application and award rules.
