Pregnancy triggers 90-day health plan signup

Beginning January 1, 2027, pregnancy is a reason to sign up for an individual health plan at any time. If a health care practitioner confirms that you or your dependent is pregnant, you get a 90-day enrollment window. This applies to plans sold on Maryland’s marketplace and plans sold directly by insurers. You can choose when coverage starts: the first day of the month of the confirmation, or the first day of the month after you pick a plan. If you do not choose, the insurer picks one of those two dates.
