Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 2 mixed.

Farm distillery license ends July 2026

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Class 10 farm distillery license is repealed. You cannot distill or sell spirits under that license after that date.

New rules for farm breweries

Beginning July 1, 2026, a Class 8 farm must sell farm products and run agritourism that shows farming and value‑added practices. License holders may only sell beer they produce; reselling other makers’ beer is no longer allowed. Holders may host festivals, live music, and rent space for weddings and similar events, under the law’s event rules. The Executive Director oversees Class 8 operations and removes the food‑to‑alcohol sales ratio. Visitor counts cannot be capped, except by local fire codes.

Zoning checks for alcohol licenses

Beginning July 1, 2026, no alcohol license or permit is issued unless the building meets all zoning rules under the Land Use Article. Older Class 8 farm breweries, first licensed on or before July 1, 2015, are exempt from this zoning‑issuance rule.
