Beginning June 1, 2026, within 10 business days after the filing deadline, municipalities must send the State Board a list of every qualified candidate for each office. If the election is partisan, the list must include each candidate’s party. Cities must also send how to vote and where to vote. The State Board posts this information online right after it arrives.
Beginning June 1, 2026, municipalities must send the State Board the qualifications to run for each office at least 3 months before the local filing deadline for regular elections. When a special election is scheduled, they must report the election date, the offices on the ballot, and the qualifications to run within 10 business days. The State Board publishes this information online right after it receives it.
Beginning June 1, 2026, the State Board posts municipal election results online as soon as cities submit them, organized by year and municipality. Within 30 days after certification, each municipality must send an electronic copy of the certified results for every office or question. The file must show totals by early in-person, mail or vote-by-mail, provisional, and election-day voting. If the election is partisan, it must include each candidate’s party.
Beginning June 1, 2026, any municipality that uses ranked-choice voting must send its ballot counting rules to the State Board. The State Board posts these rules online after it gets them. Voters can see how ranked-choice ballots are tabulated in their city.
