Anne Arundel property tax credit for preserved land

The law lets Anne Arundel County create a property tax credit for certain preserved rural land. You can qualify if your property is in the State’s or the county’s agricultural land preservation program. You can also qualify if your land is in a Rural Legacy Area and you sold its development rights under the State Rural Legacy Program. The credit lowers county real property tax only, not State tax. The county must pass a local law to set the amount, how long it lasts, and how to apply. The authority takes effect June 1, 2026, and credits can apply to tax years starting after June 30, 2026.
