Higher pay for Howard County Sheriff and State's Attorney

This law sets and raises pay for the Howard County Sheriff and State’s Attorney. For the Sheriff, pay equals a Howard County Police Major, step 6, for 2022–2026. It is $220,601 in 2027; $227,230 in 2028; $234,079 in 2029; and $241,149 in 2030 and after. For the State’s Attorney, pay equals a District Court judge in 2026, then $220,601 in 2027; $227,230 in 2028; $234,079 in 2029; and $241,149 in 2030 and after. The law takes effect October 1, 2026. These amounts apply at the start of the next term after that date and do not change pay for a term that began before it. If someone is appointed or elected after October 1, 2026 to finish an unexpired term, the new pay applies.
