Arena board seats follow county districts

The law changes how trustees are chosen for the Cross Insurance Arena board. County commissioners now appoint nine trustees. Two must live in Portland. One comes from each of the five county commissioner districts: District 1 (South Portland, Cape Elizabeth); District 2 (Scarborough, Westbrook, Falmouth); District 3 (Gorham, Windham, Standish, Baldwin, Sebago); District 4 (Brunswick, Freeport, Harpswell, Pownal, New Gloucester); District 5 (Yarmouth, Cumberland, North Yarmouth, Gray, Casco, Raymond, Naples, Harrison, Bridgton). Two trustees are appointed at large. Trustees serve three-year terms and cannot serve more than two in a row. The board advises county commissioners on arena finances, contracts, and policies.
